In recent years, we have expanded our company beyond the online database to offer valuable training resources for students, teachers, and musical theatre professionals. Below are some of our current offerings.
Our new book, “Mastering College Musical Theatre Auditions: Sound Advice for Students, Parents, and Teachers” is now available for sale.
Giving a successful college audition is incredibly challenging and takes months of preparation. Our book will walk you through every step of this process, from figuring out where to audition and choosing audition material to deciding where to attend. Each chapter focuses on a question central to the audition process with special sections for the student, teacher, and parent. This book, which has been vetted by professionals on both sides of the table, offers honest, practical advice that will make auditioning for college a positive experience for all involved.

Masterclasses & Workshops
Our masterclass and workshop series focuses on honing the skills necessary to developing and performing contemporary work. This training is completely different from standard musical theatre training
We’ve had the pleasure of leading masterclasses at the Lucy Moses School, NYU Steinhardt, and Rider University and developed a residency at Marymount Manhattan College. All our masterclasses and workshops can be customized to your particular institution’s needs.
“David and Laura beautifully bridged the academic and professional worlds with this workshop, teaching the students while also treating them like professionals. The writers they brought in were top-notch, as was the quality of the final production. Our students had amazing experiences and grew a great deal as a result. I highly recommend this workshop to any college or university interested in helping their students prepare for an active career in this industry.”
~ Patricia Hoag Simon, Musical Theatre Coordinator Marymount Manhattan College
MASTERCLASS Teaching Artist: David Sisco
David will coach students and their pianist(s) on a wide range of songs chosen from the over 450 songs currently part of The Directory. He will help the student find more technical and dramatic freedom, discuss interpretation and invite the student to perform the song again with the suggested adjustments. David will also make a brief presentation on The Directory and have a Q&A with the faculty and students. (Length: 3 hours, Number of Students: 6)
INTENSIVE Teaching Artists: David Sisco & Laura Josepher
The three-day intensive will begin with the master class outlined above. On the second day, director Laura Josepher will join David to work individually with the master class participants and other students chosen to perform on a concert the third day. This cabaret-style performance will be open to the public and be a keystone, representing the students’ work as singing artists. (Length: 3 days, Number of Students: 13)
WORKSHOP Teaching Artists: David Sisco & Laura Josepher
The week-long workshop includes the master class and concert above, along with a series of seminars: Investigating the Text (helping students to properly learn a new song so they can bring their full selves to it), Making a Living as a Collaborative Artist (practical advice from working artists in the musical theatre industry) and individual repertoire coachings with select students. David will act as musical director for the concert. (Length: 1 week, Number of Students: 30)
ADVANCED WORKSHOP Teaching Artists: David Sisco & Laura Josepher
Writing teams from ContemporaryMusicalTheatre.com will be invited to write material specifically for the students based on a unified theme. Director Laura Josepher and musical director David Sisco will collaborate with the students and writers to create a unique theatrical experience, woven together with songs from The Directory. The workshop will be run like a professional rehearsal process of a new work, culminating in up to three public performances. Also included are a series of seminars, masterclasses and individual repertoire coachings with select students. (Length: 3 weeks, Number of Students: 30)
