Daniel S. Acquisto has penned many award-winning musicals with lyricist Sammy Buck such as Like You Like It (Playscripts, 2009 NYIT Award: Best Musical), Vital Theatre’s StinkyKids® The Musical (TRW, 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award: Best Family Show), The Frog & The Witch, Matthew Takes Mannahattan (book by Aurin Squire), …And Then I Wrote A Song About It (book by Eric Weinberger), incidental music for Barry The Hatchet, Andy Warhol Was Right (NYMF), and currently working on Ugly. Apart from Sammy, Daniel has written music and lyrics for over fourteen children’s musicals for The Kaufman Center including The Dragon (book by Avi Mowshowitz); rock musical Antigone (Studio Arena), Dancing In The Dark (book by Jeffry Denman), ballet Wild About Harry (NYMF including choreographers Joshua Bergasse and Shea Sullivan), Raw Impressions, A-Train Plays, P.O.W. (an electronic-music oratorio), Non-theatre commissions: End credit music Redheads Anonymous web series, Audubon Trail (USAF Clarinet Quartet), Sing No Sad Songs For Me (for men’s choir, Shawnee Press), feature-length film Fade To White, as well as other short films including Swept. Other Awards (in conjunction with Sammy Buck): Dottie Burman Songwriting Award (2012), Talkin’ Broadway Summer Festival Citation Best New Musical (2007), Cardiff Global Musicals Search Winner (2006), New Voices Prize (2005), and a Dramatists Guild’s Jonathan Larson Fellow (2003). Daniel is a percussionist, orchestrator/arranger, music director, and music educator. MM in Acoustic & Electronic Composition from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Member of ASCAP.
